Andrew is a practical and internationally experienced commercial attorney. His current main focus is consumer protection and information privacy law in an electronic environment. He is also an obsessive plain language lawyer who drafts a wide range of commercial agreements in plain (or plainer) English. He has been interviewed on national radio on this topic.

• Michalsons Attorneys (Cape Town) – Associate – Jan 2010 to the present: edits numerous complex legal documents to comply with the new Consumer Protection Act’s requirements of plain language and fair contract terms, and advises on the Protection of Personal Information Bill, expected to become law later this year.
• Tenet Legal Consulting (Cape Town) – Legal advisor – 2002 to the present: Advises a variety of primarily media, hospitality and development SMEs and NGOs in areas as diverse as acquisitions, arbitrations, corporate finance, employment, governance and property.
• Bowman Gilfillan (Findlay & Tait) (Cape Town) – Candidate/ Attorney – 2000 to 2001: Qualified and worked in the commercial department on a wide range of matters, and also advised on global data protection.
• Maitland (Shepstone & Wylie)(London, UK) – Associate lawyer – 1997 to 1999:  Advised mostly international clients on corporate and commercial matters, mergers and acquisitions, vessel finance, cross-border litigation, tax, intellectual property and the 1995 European data protection directive.
